Semidol K2 is used for drinking water filtration and for deacidification of water, removal of iron, manganese, and silicon. It is also intended for increasing the calcium and magnesium content in water, thus mineralizing the water. Due to the alkaline reaction of MgO, along with the increase in pH, there will be deironization and demanganization of the water as well as removal of silicon.

It is a partially calcined dolomite obtained from thermal treatment of raw dolomite. At temperatures around 850 °C, there is partial deacidification to CaCO3 * MgO.
