The basic type is chrome-nickel austenitic steel AISI 304
This is the most widespread and used corrosion-resistant steel on the market, which has a low carbon content and thus is well-weldable. It has very good cold toughness. It can be hardened during shaping. It bends and rolls well. The steel is very polishable and withstands temperatures up to 300-350°C. Workability is not good but can be machined using sharp-edged tools. The steel is resistant to water, steam, humidity, edible acids, and weak organic and inorganic acids. It resists weather influences outside coastal areas or in environments with a higher concentration of aggressive chemicals. It has a wide range of applications. It is used in the food industry, chemical industry, dairy industry, brewing industry, wine industry, as well as in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Its significant contribution is also found in architecture and design, in the construction of motor vehicles, for household items and equipment, for medical facilities and tools including surgical instruments, for the production of artistic items and jewelry, for the manufacturing of large kitchen and residential kitchen appliances and equipment, including dispensing devices.
*AISI 316L - acid-resistant chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel with a low carbon content of up to 0.03 %.
It is highly resistant to concentrated acids of both organic and inorganic types, of course, when observing lower concentrations and at moderate temperature levels. It has significantly increased resistance to all types of corrosion. This grade has a slight tendency to pitting corrosion caused by stress in chloride solutions. It is very well weldable and polishable. Its advantage is that after welding, the steel maintains its high resistance to intergranular corrosion. AISI 316L material is characterized by very good mechanical properties in stamping, bending, and drawing. This steel is often used in the chemical industry, in devices for contact with seawater, and for the production of pool accessories and technologies.
