UV lamps KING LIGHT are designed to remove bacteria, cysts, and viruses from water using UV radiation. This disinfection method is applicable for family homes, cottages, laboratories, restaurants, hospitals, and in industry as well.

UV lamp can be installed both horizontally and vertically.

How UV lamp works

Water enters the stainless steel tube (UV reactor) and flows inside the tube around a powerful UV lamp located within a waterproof quartz tube. Ultraviolet radiation at a wavelength of 253.7 nm kills bacteria and viruses and damages their DNA molecular structure, thus preventing them from reproducing. At the same time, it does not introduce any changes to the chemical content of the water, nor does it create byproducts. Ultraviolet radiation is completely harmless, ecological, easy, inexpensive, and the most modern means of disinfection.

For the UV lamp to serve its purpose, it must be in operation for at least 10-15 minutes, during which the necessary light frequency spectrum is created that eliminates viruses and bacteria. If the UV lamp does not light for more than 4 hours, bacteria begin to form colonies and gradually start to spread through the piping. For these reasons, the UV lamp must remain switched on. If the water is not used for more than 2 days (for example, due to going on vacation), we recommend turning off the UV lamp. Before using the water again, turn on the UV lamp, wait 15 minutes, and then let out enough water for fresh water to pass through the UV lamp.

Health safety is the top priority. Water disinfection is therefore crucial for health - for example, a single colony of Escherichia Coli bacteria is enough to cause illness.

Replacing the UV lamp

The lifespan of a UV lamp with continuous operation is one year, after which the UV lamp must be replaced even if it is still lit, as the lamp will be burnt out and ineffective after a year (different frequency spectrum).

Never handle the UV lamp with bare hands; always use, for example, a dry paper towel. Handling with bare hands significantly reduces the lifespan of the lamp.

For convenient replacement of the UV lamp, a space at least the length of the UV lamp in the direction of lamp removal is required. To remove the quartz tube, you must loosen the nut on the opposite end from where the transformer connection is. Therefore, it must be easily accessible.

Individual models of UV lamps differ in maximum flow rate, i.e., the flow rate at which they can still ensure a water irradiation intensity of 40 mJ/cm2, according to Czech legislation.

• Iron – max. 0.3 mg/l
• Manganese – max. 0.05 mg/l
• Water hardness – max. 2.5 mmol/l
• Mechanical pre-filtration is required.

You should know

We would like to point out that for the proper functioning of the UV lamp, mechanical pre-filtration of the water is necessary. Usually, we use mechanical filters from our range. We recommend the pre-filter PX 50 or PX 80.

For connecting the UV lamp, we recommend using surge protection UV Protect S PO20 before the transformer in the socket. This will protect the UV lamp and transformer from surges caused, for example, by current spikes or storms.

For proper functioning of the device, we recommend installation by our authorized service throughout the Czech Republic. The installation price depends on the complexity of the installation and the materials used.
