UV lamps KING LIGHT are designed to remove bacteria, cysts, and viruses from water using UV radiation. This disinfection method is suitable for family homes, cottages, laboratories, restaurants, hospitals, and also in industry.

The UV lamp can be installed horizontally or vertically.

For connecting the UV lamp, we recommend using surge protection UV Protect S PO20 before the transformer. This will protect the UV lamp and transformer from surges caused by electrical shocks or thunderstorms.

How the UV lamp works

Water enters the stainless steel tube (UV reactor) and flows through the inside of the tube around the powerful UV lamp located inside a waterproof quartz tube. Ultraviolet radiation of 253.7 nm kills bacteria and viruses and damages their DNA molecular structure, thereby preventing them from reproducing. At the same time, it does not introduce any changes to the chemical composition of the water, nor does it create byproducts. Ultraviolet radiation is completely harmless, environmentally friendly, easy, inexpensive, and the most modern method of disinfection.

For the UV lamp to serve its purpose, it is necessary that it operates for at least 10-15 minutes, during which the required light frequency spectrum is created to eliminate viruses and bacteria. When the UV lamp is off for more than 4 hours, bacteria begin to form colonies and gradually grow further into the pipes. For these reasons, it is necessary for the UV lamp to remain on. If the water is not used for more than 2 days (for example, due to going on vacation), we recommend turning off the UV lamp. Before using the water, turn on the UV lamp, wait 15 minutes, and then allow enough water to flow through so that new water passes through the UV lamp.

Health safety is paramount. Therefore, water disinfection is crucial for health - for example, a single colony of Escherichia Coli bacteria is enough to cause illness.

Replacing the UV lamp

The lifespan of the UV lamp when continuously lit is one year, after which it is necessary to replace the UV lamp even if it still lights up because after a year the lamp is exhausted and ineffective (different frequency spectrum).

Never handle the UV lamp with bare hands; always use, for example, a dry paper towel. Handling with bare hands significantly reduces the lifespan of the lamp.

For convenient replacement of the UV lamp, a space at least the length of the UV lamp in the direction of removing the UV lamp is required. To remove the quartz tube, the nut on the opposite end from the transformer connection must be loosened. Therefore, it is necessary for it to be easily accessible.

Individual models of UV lamps differ in maximum flow rate, i.e., the flow rate at which they can still ensure a water irradiation intensity of 40 mJ/cm2, according to Czech legislation.

• Water hardness – max. 2.5 mmol/l
• Mechanical pre-filtration is required.

What you should know

Please note that mechanical pre-filtration of water is required for the proper functioning of the UV lamp. We usually use mechanical filters from our offer. We recommend the pre-filter PX 50 or PX 80.
