UV lamps KING LIGHT are designed to remove bacteria, cysts, and viruses from water using UV radiation. This disinfection method is applicable for family houses, cottages, laboratories, restaurants, hospitals, and also in industry.

UV lamp can be installed horizontally or vertically.

For connecting the UV lamp, we recommend using surge protection UV Protect S PO20 into the socket before the transformer. This will protect the UV lamp and transformer from surges caused by current spikes or storms.

How UV lamp works

Water enters the stainless steel tube (UV reactor) and flows inside the tube around the powerful UV lamp located inside a waterproof quartz tube. Ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm kills bacteria and viruses and damages their DNA molecular structure, thus preventing them from reproducing. At the same time, it does not introduce any changes to the chemical content of the water and does not create by-products. Ultraviolet radiation is completely harmless, ecological, easy, cheap, and the most modern method of disinfection.

For the UV lamp to serve its purpose, it needs to be in operation for at least 10-15 minutes, during which the necessary light frequency spectrum is created that destroys viruses and bacteria. When the UV lamp has not been on for more than 4 hours, bacteria start forming colonies and gradually begin to grow further along the pipes. For these reasons, it is essential that the UV lamp remains switched on. In the event that the water is not used for more than 2 days (for example, due to going on vacation), we recommend turning off the UV lamp. Before using the water, turn on the UV lamp, wait 15 minutes, and then let enough water flow so that new water goes through the UV lamp.

Health safety is a top priority. Therefore, water disinfection is crucial for health – for example, a single colony of Escherichia Coli bacteria is sufficient to cause illness.
Thus, KING LIGHT UV lamps, due to their high disinfection efficiency, are a guarantee of absolute certainty based on 90 years of experience.

Replacing the UV lamp

The lifespan of the UV lamp under continuous illumination is one year, after which the UV lamp must be replaced even if it lights up because after a year the lamp is already worn out and ineffective (different frequency spectrum).

Never handle the UV lamp with bare hands; always use, for example, a dry paper napkin. Handling with bare hands significantly reduces the lifespan of the lamp.

For convenient replacement of the UV lamp, a space at least as long as the UV lamp in the direction of removing the UV lamp is needed. To remove the quartz tube, it is necessary to loosen the nut at the opposite end from where the transformer is connected. It is therefore essential that it is easily accessible.

Individual models of UV lamps differ in maximum flow rate, which is the flow at which they can still ensure an irradiation intensity of 40 mJ/cm2 according to Czech legislation.

• Water hardness – max. 2.5 mmol/l
• Mechanical pre-filtration is required.

You should know

Note that for the UV lamp to function correctly, mechanical pre-filtration of the water is necessary. We typically use mechanical filters from our offer. We recommend pre-filter PX 50 orPX 80.
