UV lamps KING LIGHT are designed to remove bacteria, cysts, and viruses from water using UV radiation. This disinfection method is applicable for family homes, cottages, laboratories, restaurants, hospitals, and also in industry.

The UV lamp can be installed horizontally or vertically.

How the UV lamp works

Water enters the stainless steel tube (UV reactor) and then flows through the inside of the tube around a powerful UV lamp located inside a waterproof quartz tube. Ultraviolet radiation at a wavelength of 253.7 nm kills bacteria and viruses and damages their DNA molecular structure, thus preventing them from reproducing. At the same time, it does not introduce any changes to the chemical content of the water and does not create by-products. Ultraviolet radiation is completely harmless, eco-friendly, easy, inexpensive, and the most modern method of disinfection.

To fulfill its purpose, the UV lamp must be in operation for at least 10-15 minutes, during which the necessary light frequency spectrum is created that eliminates viruses and bacteria. When the UV lamp does not shine for more than 4 hours, bacteria start to form colonies and gradually begin to grow further in the pipes. For these reasons, the UV lamp must remain on at all times. If the water is unused for more than 2 days (for example, due to going on vacation), we recommend turning off the UV lamp. Before using the water, turn on the UV lamp, wait 15 minutes, and then let enough water flow through to ensure that fresh water passes the UV lamp.

Health safety is a top priority. Therefore, water disinfection is crucial for health – for example, a single colony of Escherichia Coli bacteria is enough to cause illness.

Replacing the UV lamp

The lifespan of a UV lamp when left on continuously is one year, after which the UV lamp must be replaced even if it still lights up, as after one year the lamp becomes ineffective (different frequency spectrum).

Never handle the UV lamp with bare hands; always use, for example, a dry paper towel. Handling it with bare hands significantly reduces the lifespan of the lamp.

For convenient replacement of the UV lamp, a space at least the length of the UV lamp in the direction of removing the UV lamp is needed. To remove the quartz tube, it is necessary to loosen the nut on the opposite end from the transformer connection. Therefore, it is necessary for it to be easily accessible.

Individual models of UV lamps differ in maximum flow rate, i.e., the flow rate at which they can still ensure an irradiation intensity of 40 mJ/cm2, according to Czech legislation.

• Iron – max. 0.3 mg/l
• Manganese – max. 0.05 mg/l
• Water hardness – max. 2.5 mmol/l
• Mechanical pre-filtration is necessary.

You should know

Please note that for the proper functioning of the UV lamp, mechanical pre-filtration of the water is required. We usually use mechanical filters from our range. We recommend the pre-filter PX 50 or PX 80.

For connecting the UV lamp, we recommend using a surge protection device UV Protect S PO20 before the transformer socket. This will protect the UV lamp and transformer from overvoltage caused by, for example, power surges or storms.

For the proper functioning of the device, we recommend installation by our authorized service throughout the Czech Republic. The installation price depends on the complexity of the installation and the materials used.
