Detailed information

Product detailed description

The VIQUA VT1 13W UV lamps are designed to remove bacteria, cysts, and viruses from water using UV radiation. This disinfection method finds its application in family homes, cabins, laboratories, restaurants, hospitals, and also in industry.

For connecting the UV lamp, we recommend using a surge protector UV Protect S PO20 in the socket before the transformer. This will protect the UV lamp and transformer from surges caused by, for example, power surges or storms.

How the UV lamp works

Water enters the stainless steel tube (UV reactor) and then flows inside the tube around a powerful UV lamp located inside a waterproof quartz tube. Ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm kills bacteria and viruses and damages their DNA molecular structure, thus preventing them from reproducing. At the same time, it does not introduce any changes to the chemical composition of the water and does not create by-products. Ultraviolet radiation is completely safe, ecological, easy, inexpensive, and the most modern method of disinfection.

For the UV lamp to fulfill its purpose, it must be operating for at least 10-15 minutes, during which the necessary light frequency spectrum is created that destroys viruses and bacteria. When the UV lamp is not on for more than 4 hours, bacteria begin to form colonies and gradually penetrate further into the piping. For these reasons, the UV lamp must remain switched on at all times. In case the water is unused for more than 2 days (for example, due to going on vacation), it is recommended to turn off the UV lamp. Before using the water, turn on the UV lamp, wait 15 minutes, and then let enough water flow so that new water passes through the UV lamp.

Health safety is paramount. Therefore, water disinfection is crucial for health – for example, just one colony of Escherichia Coli bacteria is sufficient to cause disease.
Therefore, VIQUA UV lamps, due to their high disinfection efficiency, guarantee absolute certainty based on 90 years of experience.

Replacing the UV lamp

The lifespan of the UV lamp under continuous operation is one year, after which the UV lamp needs to be replaced even if it still lights up, because after a year, the lamp is already worn out and ineffective (different frequency spectrum).

Never handle the UV lamp with bare hands; always use, for example, a dry paper towel. Handling with bare hands significantly reduces the lifespan of the lamp.

Technical parameters:

  • Flow rate up to 0.2 m3/hour
  • 1/2" external threads
  • Power consumption 13 W
  • Max operating pressure: 8.6 bar
  • Stainless steel UV lamp casing made of SS304
  • Highly efficient UV lamps
  • Dimensions: length 318 mm, diameter 65 mm
  • Weight: 1.8 kg
  • New intelligent power supply with visual and audible malfunction signaling
  • Made in Canada

Individual models of UV lamps differ in maximum flow rate, i.e., the flow at which they can still ensure a water irradiation intensity of 40 mJ/cm2, according to Czech legislation. If the specified flow rate is not sufficient, the solution is a UV lamp with a higher flow rate, such as UV lamp Viqua VT4 20W.

Requirements for input water:

  • Iron – max. 0.3 mg/l
  • Manganese – max. 0.05 mg/l
  • Water hardness – max. 2.5 mmol/l
  • A mechanical pre-filtration is necessary.

You should know

Please note that for the proper functioning of the UV lamp, mechanical pre-filtration of water is required. Typically, we use mechanical filters from our range. We recommend the PX 60 pre-filter or the PX 80.

For the correct functioning of the equipment, we recommend installation by our authorized service throughout the Czech Republic. The installation price depends on the complexity of the installation and the materials used.
