Product detailed description
VIQUA VT4 20 W UV lamps are designed to remove bacteria, cysts, and viruses from water using UV radiation. This disinfection method is applicable for family homes, cottages, laboratories, restaurants, hospitals, and also in industry.
For connecting the UV lamp, we recommend using surge protection UV Protect S PO20 in the socket before the transformer. This will protect the UV bulb and transformer from surges caused by power surges or thunderstorms.
How the UV lamp works
Water enters the stainless steel tube (UV reactor) and flows inside the tube around a powerful UV tube located inside a waterproof quartz tube. Ultraviolet radiation of 253.7 nm kills bacteria and viruses and damages their DNA molecular structure, preventing them from reproducing. At the same time, it does not introduce any changes to the chemical composition of the water, nor does it create by-products. Ultraviolet radiation is completely harmless, ecological, easy, cheap, and the most modern method of disinfection.
For the UV lamp to fulfill its purpose, it is necessary for it to operate for at least 10-15 minutes, during which the required light frequency spectrum is created that eliminates viruses and bacteria. When the UV lamp is off for more than 4 hours, bacteria begin to form colonies and gradually start to grow further in the pipes. For these reasons, it is essential that the UV lamp remains switched on. If the water is not used for more than 2 days (for example, due to going on vacation), then we recommend turning off the UV lamp. Before using the water, turn on the UV lamp, wait 15 minutes, and then let enough water flow through so that fresh water passes through the UV lamp.
Health safety is paramount. Therefore, water disinfection is crucial for health - for example, a single colony of Escherichia Coli bacteria is enough to cause illness.
For this reason, VIQUA UV lamps guarantee absolute certainty with over 90 years of effective disinfection experience.
Replacing the UV bulb
The lifespan of the UV lamp under continuous operation is one year, after which the UV bulb needs to be replaced even if it is still lit, as after a year the bulb is already burned out and ineffective (different frequency spectrum).
Never handle the UV bulb with bare hands; always use, for example, a dry paper towel. Handling it with bare hands significantly reduces the lifespan of the bulb.
Technical parameters:
- Flow rate up to 0.6 m3/hour
- 1/2" external threads
- Power consumption 20 W
- Max operating pressure: 8.6 bar
- Stainless steel UV lamp housing made of SS304
- Highly efficient UV bulbs
- Dimensions: length 436 mm, diameter 65 mm
- Weight: 2.5 kg
- New intelligent power supply with visual and audible fault signaling
- Made in Canada
Individual models of UV lamps differ in maximum flow rate, which is the flow rate at which they can still ensure an irradiation intensity of 40 mJ/cm2, according to Czech legislation. If the specified flow rate is insufficient, the solution is a UV lamp with a higher flow rate, such as UV lamp VIQUA VH 150 32W.
Proposed connection configuration for the VIQUA UV lamp:
Requirements for incoming water:
- Iron – max. 0.3 mg/l
- Manganese – max. 0.05 mg/l
- Water hardness – max. 2.5 mmol/l
- Mechanical prefiltration is necessary.
You should know
Please note that mechanical prefiltration of the water is required for the proper functioning of the UV lamp. Typically, we use mechanical filters from our range. We recommend PX 60 prefilter or PX 80.
For the proper functioning of the device, we recommend installation by our authorized service throughout the Czech Republic. The price of the installation depends on the complexity of the installation and the materials used.
